I see your angsty “Maxwell doesn’t remember his interactions with Wilson over the radio” and raise you: Maxwell *does* remember what he felt for Wilson, but he doesn’t remember Wilson returning his affections. He says he doesn’t remember because he honestly doesn’t believe Wilson could ever love him *back*

While that’s an interesting angle, it’s one that is easily remedied and doesn’t allow for a slowburn of angst and rediscovery of feelings (falling in love all over again) - Promotly followed by an explosion of passion when the memories return-

I guess my brain thinks of stories in more of a multichaptered mode rather than one-shot
