Portfolio piece with Rainbow Mines kids

Finally got to pounding out the character concepts for the other kids in Rainbow Mines (an original comic idea of mine)

I was really fond of using cultural differences as an influence for the different kids, and thus, each kid is a different race and from a different part of their world of vibrancy

And yes

All their names are stupid puns on colour terms

More or less messing around with colours

And what better thing to use, than my characters that are all about colour

This was a really awesome idea, going in line with my list of story plots I have for comics

You guys have already seen characters from Bounty, RUNE, and Masks (all rough names, likely to change when they’re actually being made) and now have had a peek at the main character of a 4th story I want to work on

But I’ve it kept under wraps, simply for the fear of someone trying to steal it, but I think I should just get over that, and put the idea out there before someone else does

Rainbow Mines

The basis of the story is a world that is lavished with art and colour and creativity. With these things, the humans of this world flourish on a huge earth filled with vibrant hues used with nearly everything. In this world, there are naturally occurring pigments in nature found below the earth in veins. These are called Pigment ores, and come in every colour imaginable

The humans of this world themselves carry little colour, being almost like albinos, with snow white skin and lightly coloured hair and eyes, while the animals hold bright, exotic colours

There are also dark creatures whom everyone views as a burden, being made of only dark neutrals (blacks/grays) and devour the pigment ores

In a small mining town of the Cool Colours, there is a young girl

Her name, being Pastella

As for plot points, there are many variations I’ve been mulling over, one that even my Dad helped me come up with

It could be an epic adventure, Slice of life, with internal and external conflicts, and even possibly saving the world

Much much much is to be changed, everything from the pigments to Pastell’s design

But that’s basis I have of the story
